What is in a 44mm badge set

A front metal shell, a back plastic base with a rust-free steel pin, and a mylar sheet. The same three-part construction as our 58mm set, scaled to the compact badge size.

Our lowest per-piece component

Less metal, less plastic, less printed area — 44mm is the cheapest badge you can press, which is exactly why it is the size to stock for large volume giveaways. When a college needs eight hundred volunteer badges on a fixed budget, this is the set that makes the numbers work.

Print at 57mm, not 44mm

The wrap allowance on a 44mm badge is proportionally larger than on a 58mm: 6.5mm of the printed circle disappears around the dome on each side. Cut at 44mm and you will get bare metal around the edge of every badge.

Design at 57mm, keep background running to the very edge of that circle, and keep all text and logos inside a 36mm centre area — the smaller face is far less forgiving of type near the edge than 58mm is.

Dies do not cross sizes

A 44mm press takes 44mm components and nothing else. If you already own a 58mm machine, these will not fit it — you need the 44mm die, not just the smaller materials. This is the most common ordering mistake we see, and it is worth a message before you place a large order.

Who buys them

Anyone pressing badges for wearing rather than displaying: staff and volunteer identification, school house badges, conference lapel pins. Printers who keep both sizes on the counter and let the customer choose.
