What is in a pin-with-magnet set

What it makes

A badge with two lives. It pins on for the event and goes on the fridge afterwards — which is why it sells at conferences, weddings, alumni meets and anniversary events, where the badge is meant to be kept rather than binned at the end of the day.

For anyone pressing commercially, it is an easy upsell from a plain badge: the same press, the same artwork, one extra component, and a noticeably better product to describe to a customer.

What the magnet is for

An 8mm × 1.5mm magnet holds the badge's own weight on a vertical steel surface — a fridge door, a steel almirah, a locker, a filing cabinet. It is not a heavy-duty magnet and it will not hold paper.

The pin remains the primary fastening. Set expectations accordingly: this is a badge that can also sit on a fridge, not a fridge magnet you can also pin on.

It will not grip a stainless steel fridge door. That catches people out, so it is worth saying at the point of sale — a stainless outer skin is non-magnetic and the badge simply slides off.

Pressing them

Same 58mm press, same 68mm circle, same die as a standard badge. The magnet seats into the back plate during assembly, so there is no gluing and no drying time.
