Full-area magnet, not a centre disc

The backing is a flexible magnetic sheet covering the whole back rather than a small disc in the middle. On a square face that matters: a centre disc lets a large flat piece rock and creep down a fridge door over a few weeks, and a full-area sheet does not.

The sheet is self-adhesive, so it goes on before crimping with no glue and no drying time.

The square is a different machine

A 50×50mm square press and a matching square cutter. A round machine cannot press these, and a 63.5mm square machine cannot either — square dies are as size-specific as round ones.

Why squares sell

Save-the-dates are the highest-repeat order in this format, and they are seasonal but reliable. A square holds a cropped photograph with names and a date under it without the circular crop that a round magnet forces on a picture.

Beyond weddings: business promotions, baby announcements, event giveaways and housewarming keepsakes. 50mm is the giveaway size — cheap enough per piece that a customer ordering two hundred does not flinch.

Cutting square is less forgiving

A round cut has no orientation. A square does, and a cut a degree off shows immediately along the edge because the eye reads the parallel. Use the matching die cutter rather than trimming by hand, and check the first piece of every run before pressing the rest.
