Why pressed rather than acrylic

Acrylic and laminated-card keychains fail in two predictable ways: the surface scratches to a haze within a few months of sharing a pocket with keys, and the laminate lifts at one edge and then peels. A pressed keychain has a steel shell underneath and a sealed mylar face over the print, so it goes cloudy far more slowly and has no edge to peel. It also will not snap, which acrylic does the first time it is sat on.

For a giveaway meant to be seen for years rather than weeks, that difference is the whole decision.

Who orders them

Wedding and birthday return gifts, where a keychain gets used rather than displayed and then forgotten. College fest merchandise and department souvenirs. Hostel and alumni keepsakes for outgoing batches.

Commercially: showroom and dealership handovers, cab and travel operators, real-estate and insurance agents, gyms and tuition centres — anyone who wants their number on something a customer physically holds every day rather than on a card that goes in a bin.

Designing for a small moving object

Two things matter more here than on a badge. Simplify detailed logos: fine strokes and small tag lines disappear once the design is 58mm across and swinging from a hand. And if a phone number is the point, set it as the largest element — at this size you get one thing that reads instantly, so choose which.

Build to a 68mm circle at 300 DPI or higher, treating the outer 5mm as bleed, in JPG, PNG, PDF or AI. Full-colour CMYK; neons and metallics cannot be matched.
