What is in a 90×65mm rectangle magnet set

Four parts: a metal front, a cardboard back, a back sticky flexible magnet sheet, and a mylar sheet. The cardboard backing is what keeps a piece this large rigid without the weight of a full metal back.

The business-card magnet

This is the format to stock if you want to sell to local service businesses rather than to events. A visiting card gets filed or binned; the same information on a fridge magnet stays at eye level in the room where people look up phone numbers.

Tuition centres, clinics and dental practices, plumbers and electricians, packers and movers, tiffin and catering services, gas suppliers, cab operators, pharmacies that deliver — all of them already print visiting cards, and all of them can be sold this instead at a much higher price per piece.

Why the cardboard back

At 90×65mm a metal back would make the piece heavy enough to work against its own magnet on a vertical door. Cardboard keeps it rigid and light, and the full-area magnet sheet spreads the grip across the whole back so a large flat piece does not creep downward.

One consequence to pass on: cardboard does not like water. These are kitchen products and a wipe is fine, but they should not be soaked.

Advising on layout

The commonest mistake your customers will make is filling the space because it is there. A magnet is read at a glance from a distance. Tell them to pick the one thing it must communicate — almost always the phone number — and set that as the largest element, with everything else in support.

Cutting

Use the matching rectangular die cutter. Rectangular stock shows a misaligned cut even more clearly than square does, because there are two different edge lengths for the eye to compare.
