What is in a rectangular name badge set

A different die, not just a different shape

This is the point most people miss when ordering. A rectangular name badge cannot be pressed on a round machine. It needs a 68×24mm rectangular die and a matching rectangular cutter — a 58mm round press will not take these components under any circumstances.

If you are adding name badges to a round-badge business, budget for the machine, not just the materials.

Why it is worth adding

Round badges sell to events. Rectangular name badges sell to businesses — and businesses reorder. Restaurants, showrooms, clinics, salons, hotels and conference organisers all need name badges, and they need them again every time a staff member joins.

The per-piece price is also higher than a round badge, and the customer is far less price-sensitive, because a name badge is a uniform item rather than a giveaway.

Handling a run of individual names

Most orders will be a list of names rather than one repeated design. Ask your customer for a plain list — spreadsheet or message — with the exact spelling and designation for each person, plus one layout showing where the logo sits. Set each name into that template.

Insist they check the spellings before you print. Repressing one badge from a run of forty costs more per piece than the whole original run did, and the argument about who got it wrong is worse.
