A photo magnet is the return gift that survives the cupboard — it goes on the fridge door and stays there, which is more than most wedding favours manage.
Wedding return gifts that do not end up in a cupboard
Most wedding favours are looked at once. A photo fridge magnet goes onto a fridge door and stays there — which is why it has quietly become the most-ordered wedding item we press.
The usual design is simple: a photograph of the couple, the names, and the date. Some add the venue. That is enough, and it is what people keep.
Save-the-dates and the day itself
Magnets get ordered twice for a lot of weddings. Once as a save-the-date, posted out months ahead — a magnet survives on the fridge until the day in a way a card does not. Then again as the return gift handed out at the reception.
If you are doing both, the 50×50mm square is the usual save-the-date and the 58mm round the usual favour, though either works for either.
Choosing a size
The 58mm round is the classic photo favour: pressed steel, domed face, sealed under mylar so it survives years on a door. The 50×50mm square holds a rectangular photograph without cropping it to a circle, and is the cheaper option per piece for a large guest list. The 63.5mm square is worth the extra if the venue and date have to be legible, or if there is more than one face in the picture.
Keychains are the alternative if you want something guests carry rather than display.
Sending photographs
Crop tight before you send. A full-length photo reduced to 58mm loses the faces entirely, and the crop we would guess at may not be the one you wanted — send it framed the way you want it printed, at 300 DPI or higher.
Keep the names and date clear of the outer edge on round magnets, since that ring wraps around the dome. And set the date larger than looks right on screen; at this size, small type stops being readable.
Quantities and timing
Rates fall at each quantity tier and you can mix designs inside one order at the combined rate, which is what most couples do — two or three photo variants across the same guest list.
Order earlier than you think you need to. Standard delivery is 5–7 business days from artwork approval, and artwork approval usually takes longer than couples expect because photographs get changed. Express delivery of 2–3 days is available to select pin codes; send us your date and pin code before ordering and we will tell you honestly what is achievable.
